Before I chose the genre of my magazine I reasearched many different music magazines, to so the popular genres and how other genre are presented. Depending on the genre of the magazine, the layout, colours and images all vary but it is easy to recognise what genre the magazine is aimed at. Here are some of the magazines I researched and the different genres:
After researching the different genres, I decided to chose a mixed genre magazine, similar to the NME and Vibe music magazines, as I want to make a magazine for the new, up and coming bands or solo artists, who are all of different genres of music. Also recently I have been to 2 concerts, so I will be using the pictutres I took at the concerts in my music magazine, one singer is an English folk and soul singer named Lianne La Havas, whereas the band I went to see, The Script are an Irish alternative rock band. My magazine will be targeted at all people that enjoy different types of musical genres.
